What is Setouchi Tuk-Tuk?

This electric EV TukTuk offers more than just transportation—it’s a moment where scenery and time gently melt together. Experience Teshima with all five senses, and savor the luxury of slow island moments.
To drive a tuk-tuk, you need one of the following:
「A Japanese driver's license」
「An international driver's license under the Geneva Convention」
「A foreign driver's license from a specific country or region with a Japanese translation」

Location
Reception, rental and return are all done at Teshima Factory, a 5-minute walk from Teshima Ieura Port.
*Available from 9:00 to 17:00 *Closed on Tuesdays and when the Teshima Art Museum is closed

Procedures
before useAfter making a reservation on our website, please confirm important information, upload your driver's license, and complete the approval process by clicking the link in the "Online Pre-registration" email you received. Once completed, a "QR code" will be sent to your registered email. *Please note that if you do not have a QR code, you will not be able to use the reception terminal.

Visit and explanation
and driving experiencePlease bring the QR code you received with you to Teshima Factory and present it at the reception terminal. After checking in, a staff member will explain the vehicle and you will have a driving experience before departing. *Please be sure to bring your QR code and regular driver's license with you.

Departure
Follow the instructions on the screen to retrieve your key from the lockbox, and when you're ready to leave, go ahead.

Return
After use, please park your vehicle in the designated area on the premises, check for any belongings left behind, and return the key to the key box.
Important Notice

About usage
・Electric tuk-tuks can be driven with a regular driver's license.
・The vehicle is classified as a "light motorcycle," but the type of license required is different, so please check in advance.
・If multiple people are driving, all drivers' licenses must be presented. Please do not forget.
・For safety reasons, children under 100 cm tall are not permitted to ride even if accompanied by a parent or guardian.
・If a child over 100 cm tall is riding in the car, an adult must be present in the back seat.
・People aged 70 or older are not permitted to drive, but are allowed to ride in the back seat.

Regarding rainy weather
・Electric tuk-tuks have a roof over the driver's seat, so you can drive without getting wet even in rainy weather. However, there are no windows in the back seat, so rain can easily blow in and you may get quite wet.
・Vehicles can be rented even on rainy days, but for a more comfortable experience, we recommend renting a vehicle on a sunny day. Please note that we do not rent out raincoats.
・If you are unable to come to Teshima due to transportation cancellations caused by weather (warning level), your trip will be cancelled free of charge and you will receive a full refund.
*Warnings are limited to "strong winds, heavy rain, floods, heavy snow, and blizzards."

About clothes
・The back seat is susceptible to the wind, so miniskirts and other clothing may feel chilly. We recommend wearing clothing that can block the wind, such as pants or a long skirt. Also, in spring (April to May) and autumn (October to March), the temperature may drop in the evenings, so it is a good idea to bring a jacket or other outerwear.
・In winter, your feet tend to get cold easily, so you can enjoy the facility more comfortably by taking measures to protect yourself from the cold, such as wearing warm socks and blankets.

About payment methods
・Payment is by credit card only.
・Insurance fee is included in the price.
・If you wish to add liability insurance, please select it from the options on the reservation screen.
・Collision waiver (+1,000 yen)
・If you apply for this system, we will compensate you for the 50,000 yen vehicle insurance deductible on your behalf.
For users from overseas
An international driver's license or equivalent document is required.
Please contact the relevant authorities in each country to find out whether you can obtain and use an international driver's license.
